World Series Of Poker 2024

The most prestigious poker tournament in the world is the WSOP main event. It is a $10,000 buy in no rebuy, not for the faint of heart. This year they got a field of over 10,000 players breaking the record. With the top first place price of $10,000,000. Not chump change. Everyone starts with 60,000 chips. It is played over 11 grueling days in Las Vegas. You start at noon and usuallly end around 1 am. Ted and I flew into Vegas on July 3rd. We wanted to get acclimated before we played on the 6th. After the first day we both made it through to day 2. A good start. I had more chips than Ted so all was good lol. Day 2 unfortunately Ted busted but I was still in it. I had a great chip stack and was in a good mental place. You don't get much sleep during this tournament as your adrenaline is so high it's difficult to fall asleep. Now I'm going about 5 hours of good sleep over 2 days. Day 3 comes and I run my stack of chips up to 943,000 which puts me in the top 10% of the field. The pay 1517 players for a prize of $15.000. There are about 1529 players left at the end of day 3. This whole time I've had a scratchy throat but have been blowing it off. I was just in Vegas in June and got sick so what's the chance I would get sick again. I NEVER get sick. Again not much sleep. Day 4 starts at noon I have a really good stack of chips so no need to be in alot of pots, we are only a few from the money. I was 94th out of 1529 players, 2nd in chips of all the women left. The money bubble burst about an hour into the tournament and we are down to 1517 players ok to start playing good poker. After the first break I tell Ted I don't feel good he says to start doing some stretching ( my doctor god love him). As each level went by I started getting sicker and sicker. I got my chips up to over 1,900,000. I am in unbelievable position. I can't even believe it let alone Ted. He's telling the family to fly out on us lol. I told him to stop it he'll jinx me. The last level of the night I started to get a fever. Everything started going fuzzy and I started to decompose. I miss read a board on a hand I should't have even been in. It was down hill from there. If I hadn't played a hand the whole level I could of just coasted to Day 5 and still been above average. All the gentlemen at the table knew I was feeling really bad and all started offering me juice and nuts they were so very sweet. I was the chip leader at the table. With my final hand I pushed all in with Ace King and 3 people called me. My duration at the main event was over and a cash prize of $37,500. I had fun. On my way out I was shaking from the fever, lack of sleep and disapointment. The next day I called my doctor for a Zpack (antibiotics). Lesson learned always bring antibiotics when you travel. I had alot of fun, met a lot of nice people, got a lot of respect from my fellow poker players and made a few bluffs along the way. I'll be back next year and can't wait. Till next time live life to the fulliest and enjoy your life.
